Abstract

The collection consists of a typed copy of Eliza M. Ingraham’s reminiscences of life in rural Leavenworth Township, Brown County, Minnesota during the Nineteenth Century. The majority of the paper consists of Ingraham recalling a log cabin near her home called the “old Hoff place.” In another section, she retold a tale about lost treasure buried near the cabin by American Indians escaping from soldiers. The paper ended abruptly after she recounted the cabin’s demise during her childhood.

The Godfred Marti collection contains two diaries and a transcription for each diary. Marti grew up on a farm near Sleepy Eye, Brown County, Minnesota and continued living in the area during his adulthood. The Elizabeth Scobie papers consist of positive photographic copies of her five volume (441L) unpublished history of Sleepy Eye, Minnesota. Included are copies of some research material, five plat maps of Evan, Minnesota dated 1896-1904, and information about politics, life, and religion in Sleepy Eye.
