Abstract

The Frank C. Thayer collection contains one journal composed between 1875 and 1880. In the journal, Thayer wrote about everyday life, planting trees on his property, the weather, and his jobs while he was at the following locations in southern Minnesota: Kasson, Dodge County; Holly Township and Shetek, Murray County; Oshawa, Nicollet County; Tracy, Lyon County, New Ulm, Brown County, Rochester and Eyota, Olmstead County. Besides the daily notations, the journal contains letters, receipts, a mortgage, and historical notes written by Thayer's descendents.
