This collection is made up of five ledgers kept by H. R. Barnard, 1846 - 1896 and Franklin H. Barnes, 1860 - 1918. The ledgers contain both business and personal entries. The business ledgers deal with the sale of lumber, and the other ledgers record the personal spending of Mr. and Mrs. Hiram Barnard.

The Kleinschmidt Bar collection contains the bar’s financial ledger for 1903 through 1904. Nicholas Kleinschmidt, 1866 – 1945, was the bar’s proprietor. Besides running his bar business, Kleinschmidt served as the proprietor of the Stahl Hotel. The Kleinschmidt Bar was located on the corner of Front and Plum in Mankato.
