Biographical / Historical

Cora Sletten was born in 1885. She graduated from Carlton College, and in 1923 she graduated from the University of Chicago with a Master of Science in Geography. She taught geography at Mankato State Teachers College from 1923-1953. “Ms. Sletten received the Distinguished Service Award from the National Council of Geography Educators in 1953 and the Carlton College Distinguished Service Award in 1971 in recognition of alumni achievement. She was President of the National Council, and served for many years as assistant editor of the Journal of Geography.” She died in 1974.

Abstract

Cora Sletten was a geography professor at Mankato State Teachers College. The majority of the collection is comprised of journals, which document twenty-five years of her life. The collection also includes photographs of Ms. Sletten and her friends and family over the years.
