Minnesota Territorial Stamp Covers, 1949
Abstract
This collection consists of stamps and envelopes commemorating the State of Minnesota’s territorial centennial. The collection is made up of four envelopes, each bearing a different design and matching stamp. The events and places portrayed on the envelopes are Minnesota’s first newspaper, a Red River ox cart train from Pembina to Mendota, the discovery of the source of the Mississippi River, and the establishment of Fort Snelling. The envelopes were postmarked at sites relating to the design on them. The postmarks date from April – August of 1949.
