History

The History Department Collection consists of items from the History Department at Minnesota State University, Mankato. The collection is made up of correspondence, reports, studies, annual budgets, committee meetings and departmental records. The collection also contains materials related to the Northern Great Plains History Conference specifically the 1974, 1991 and 2000 conferences held in Mankato.

The Homecoming Papers collection consists of a yearly folder about the preparation for Homecoming at Minnesota State University, Mankato and its predecessor institutions. Included in the folders are newspaper articles about different Homecoming events, as well as photographs of events that took place during the week.

The Old Main Cornerstone Box collection consists of items taken from the cornerstone box in Old Main on the lower campus of Mankato State Normal School during its construction in 1869. The time capsule includes newspapers, business cards from local businesses, photographs, and university course offering catalogs. Additional items were added to the cornerstone box in 1923 and 1969.
