Abstract

This collection is made up of five ledgers kept by H. R. Barnard (1846 - 1896) and Franklin H. Barnes (1860 - 1918). The ledgers contain both business and personal entries. The business ledgers deal with the sale of lumber, and the other ledgers record the personal spending of Mr. and Mrs. Hiram Barnard.

Abstract This collection consists mainly of the correspondence of Mr. Harry Paddock, a lawyer and land speculator who spent most of his life in Mankato. The collection contains his personal and business correspondence from 1890 to 1930. Two of the main topics are the selling of lumber from Mr. Paddock's lands and land speculation near Walker, Minnesota, an area that was being considered for the site of a sanitarium.
