Abstract

This collection consists of a typescript of the autobiography of Andrew Friend, of Garden City, Minnesota. The item is entitled “The Life of Mr. Friend”, and was compiled in 1916. In his autobiography, Friend discusses his involvement in building sawmills and gristmills in southern Minnesota, the defense of New Ulm during the Dakota Conflict, and the operation of his flourmill at Garden City.

Abstract The H.H. King Flour Mills Co. collection contains information concerning the company between 1855 and 1975. The H.H. King Flour Mills Co. began in 1923 as an outgrowth of several earlier flour milling businesses in Faribault including those of Milledge Sheffield in the 1890s and later his son B.B. Sheffield.
