The Lyon, Laura A. Collection consists of materials that Laura A. Lyon collected while a student at Mankato State Normal School. Included in her collection is a training manual for the kindergarten department, some photographs, a calendar, songbook, commencement program and a letter to President Charles Cooper after the fire in 1922.

Biographical / Historical

Laura A. Lyon enrolled at Mankato State Normal School in September 1909, when she was twenty-six years old. Lyon, a graduate of the Rochester High School, enrolled in the junior kindergarten training program. She graduated from the advanced kindergarten course in June 1911. In 1913, Lyon had a position, which she still held in 1923, in the primary grades in Seattle, Washington.
