Biographical / Historical
LeRoy Schwan was born in Wisconsin in 1932 to Joseph and Dorothy Schwan. LeRoy graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1958 with B.S. in Art Education and in 1960 with an M.S. in Art Education. He did post graduate work at a variety of educational institutions. LeRoy taught in the Art Department at Mankato State College from 1966 until 1974. He also taught at in Wisconsin, Michigan and Illinois with a specialization in art for special education students. Upon retirement, he lived in the St. Croix Valley and continued to draw landmarks of the region.
