Scope and Contents

The collection contains seven (7) black and white photographs of athletic events held between Mankato State Teachers College and Gustavus Adolphus College. There are five photographs of track and field events including races, hurdles and the high jump. There are two photographs of a baseball game. The date is unknown but believed to be around 1953 based on information from the donor. The date is partially based on one of the identified student athletes, Homer Russ, who was a student at Gustavus Adolphus from 1951 until 1955.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

Amanda Abend acquired this photograph scrapbook from a swap meet in San Diego, California. They removed the seven photographs, wrote captions from the scrapbook on them and donated the collection in August 2017.
