Abstract
This collection consists of a series of ledger books from Caleb B. Jackson’s hardware store, in Morristown, Minnesota. The store opened in approximately 1876, and the records run through 1884. The ledgers contain information on the various people’s accounts, what supplies were purchased at the store, and the prices paid for items.

Biographical / Historical
Caleb B. Jackson was born in Tipton County, Indiana in July of 1842. The family moved to Webster County, Iowa in 1854, and to Waseca County, Minnesota in 1856. Caleb Jackson enlisted in the First Minnesota Volunteer Infantry in 1861.
Upon his discharge, he married Mary E. Donaldson, and moved to Morristown, Minnesota where he worked as an engineer in a mill for several years. He later opened a tin shop, and learned the trade of tinsmith. Eventually, Jackson’s business evolved into a general hardware store, which was opened in the 1870s. Jackson also worked as a farmer and served as the Justice of the Peace from 1877 – 1882.
