Scope and Contents
This collection consists of items pertaining to Ronald G. Evans, a successful businessman, former Blue Earth County Commissioner, and a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives from Mankato. This collection focuses on Evans' term in the Minnesota House. Most of the collection is comprised of his legislative correspondence. These letters are from 1974 until 1976, and cover topics like the Wilson Campus School, taxation issues, and insurance concems. Also included in the collection are newspaper clippings by and about Evans (1974 - 1976), congratulatory letters sent to him upon winning his House seat (1974), and copies of bills from his time in the House. Copies of Highlights, a publication of the Republican caucus staff, and other printed informational materials from Evans' time in the House round out the collection.

Biographical / Historical
Ronald G. Evans was bom in Judson, Minnesota 26 December 1916. He married
Mildred Johnson and they had four children. Evans operated restaurants in Mankato
from January 1946 until November 1972. He served as Blue Earth County
Commissioner from January 1965 to January 1975.
Evans won a seat in the Minnesota House of Representatives in 1974. He served one
term and was defeated in his bid for re-election by David Cumminskey in 1976.

Included in the collection are his legislative correspondence, newspaper clippings, printed informational material, copies of bills, and copies of Highlights, a legislative information bulletin. Some of the topics discussed in the correspondence include: the proposal of Wilson Campus School, decreases in faculty for the Mankato State College Music Department, and the cost of health insurance and medical treatment.
