Hanson, Bert, 1901 - 1989. Papers, 1972 - 1979
Abstract
This collection consists of items relating to Bert Hanson, of Vernon Center, Minnesota. The compilation contains an audiocassette tape, a CD duplicate of the audiocassette, and transcript of an oral history interview conducted with Hanson on May 7, 1976. In addition, there is a typescript of reminiscences written by Hanson. This work discusses the changes made in farming in the sixty-year period he was involved in it. Also included in the collection are photocopies of Hanson's newspaper column, which was published in The Land. The collection also includes a newspaper clipping of a photograph of Hanson and his wife, and a negative photographic copy of a 1972 newspaper article about Hanson.

Biographical / Historical
Bert Hanson was born on August 13, 1901 in Donovan, Illinois. He moved to Minnesota
in 1910, where his family settled on a farm six miles northwest of Mankato, near the
town of Kem, in Nicollet County. He married Esther Irene Anderson of Diles, Iowa, on
June 2, 1925. They had five children together. Hanson's family has farmed in its present
location since 1932. Shadybrook Farm is a few miles north of Vernon Center on
Highway 169, and was the site of Farmfest 1972. Bert Hanson died in 1989.
