Abstract
The Ellen Jahnke Goertzen collection consists of an audiocassette tape, CD duplicate of the audiocassette, and transcript of an interview conducted between Goertzen and Lois A. Jahnke during the winter of 1991. Goertzen worked as a home economics teacher at the middle school level in both Faribault and North Mankato, Minnesota. In the interview, she discussed the change and continuities that have occurred between 1953 and 1991. Goertzen focused on the name change her particular field of education, curriculum changes, and her participation in the 1975 Faribault teachers’ strike.
This oral history interview was conducted as a requirement for the graduate level Educational Foundations course entitled History of Education in American Culture at Mankato State University in Mankato, Minnesota.
