Abstract

The Lucille A. FitzSimmons collection contains an audiocassette tape, a CD duplicate of the audiocassette, and transcript of an oral history interview conducted between FitzSimmons and Christopher Walchuk during the fall of 1990. FitzSimmons worked as an educator from 1936 to 1978 in Montgomery, Good Thunder, St. Clair, and Mankato, Minnesota. In the interview, she discussed the changes and areas of continuity that she believes occurred during her career in public education. She focused on the expectations of school boards, administrators, and parents who demanded more from educators.

This oral history interview was conducted as a requirement for the graduate level Educational Foundations course entitled History of Education in American Culture at Mankato State University in Mankato, Minnesota.
