Abstract

The Ruth Engebritson collection consists of an audiocassette tape, a CD duplicate of the audiocassette, and transcript of an oral history interview conducted between Engebritson and Shirleen K. Sylvester during the spring of 1990. Engebritson worked as a teacher for thirty-five years at the Alexander Ramsey High School in Roseville, Minnesota. She had an additional five years educating students in Minneota, Tyler, and Hutchinson Minnesota. In the interview, Engebritson discussed the areas of change and continuity that have occurred within education during her career. She focused on changing social, educational, and political forces and their impact upon her work as a health education teacher.

This oral history interview was conducted as a requirement for the graduate level Educational Foundations course entitled History of Education in American Culture at Mankato State University in Mankato, Minnesota.
