Abstract

The John Arthur Chrest collection consists of an audiocassette tape, a CD duplicate of the audiocassette, and transcript of an oral history interview conducted between Chrest and Jeffrey L. Zust during the winter of 1991. Chrest worked as an elementary school principal in the grade schools of Winthrop, Gibbon, and Brownton, Minnesota. In the interview, Chrest discussed the areas of change and continuity that occurred during his teaching career from 1955 to 1989.

This oral history interview was conducted as a requirement for the graduate level Educational Foundations course entitled History of Education in American Culture at Mankato State University in Mankato, Minnesota.
