Abstract

The Roger M. Field collection consists of one audiocassette tape, a CD duplicate of the audiocassette, and a biographical form and interview outline of an oral history interview conducted between Field and Leslie Peterson in July 2007. Field was a student at Mankato State Teachers College’s Wilson Campus School from Kindergarten through 9th grade and is a graduate of Mankato State College. In this interview, Field talks about his family, his education, and his time as a teacher and elementary school principal.

This oral history interview was conducted as part of the Tell Your MSU Story Oral History Project conducted by the Southern Minnesota Historical Center at Minnesota State University, Mankato.

Biographical / Historical

Roger M. Field was born May 16, 1934 in Mankato. From Kindergarten through 9th grade Field attended Wilson Campus School. After graduating from Mankato High School he attended Mankato State College where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in 1957 and a master’s degree in 1964. He credits learning to successfully manage the college’s athletic teams from Bob Otto and Rummy Macias. Field taught for 8 years. He then was a Rochester, Minnesota elementary school principal for 25 years. He married Fran not long after graduating from college.
