Abstract

The Edward A. Keefe collection contains 2 audiocassettes, a CD duplicate of the audiocassettes, and a transcript of an interview conducted by Ronald M. Ginter with Keefe in the spring of 1979. In the interview, Keefe recalled his family's move from a farm into Owatonna and his teaching experiences in Magnolia, Little Falls, and Owatonna, Minnesota. Keefe discussed his teaching of industrial arts, social studies, and physical education along with athletics, discipline, economic conditions, and general recollections of school life between 1929 and 1941.

Biographical / Historical

Edward A. Keefe was bom on 25 December 1911 in Waltham, Minnesota. He attended public schools in Owatonna, Minnesota and graduated from Mankato Teachers College in 1938. After graduating, he taught for one year in Magnolia, Minnesota and for two years in Little Falls, Minnesota. In 1942, Keefe retumed to Owatonna and remained educating students in the public school until he retired at the end of the 1975-1976 school year.
