Daun, Joseph, 1891 - 1974. Newspaper Clippings, 1966 - 1969
Abstract
This collection consists of two newspaper clippings about the life of Joseph Daun, a former member of the Minnesota State Legislature and a longtime civic leader in Nicollet County. The clippings are from the Mankato Free Press, and are dated December 23, 1966 and July 30, 1969. The articles list Daun’s many accomplishments in Nicollet County, and also list the legislation that he was involved in during his time in the Legislature. Some of the major topics he was involved in were state income tax reform, the fireworks control bill, school district reorganization, and transportation issues.

Biographical / Historical
Joseph Daun was born November 1, 1891 in LeSueur Minnesota. In 1920 he married Josephine Sauer and moved to a farm near St. Peter, Minnesota. Joseph Daun was a longtime Nicollet County farmer who moved to St. Peter in 1951. Daun served in the Minnesota State Legislature from 1937 – 1949 and from 1951 – 1955. He was also extremely active in civic affairs in Nicollet County. Joseph Daun died March 3, 1974.
