Abstract
This collection consists of a manuscript entitled “The Red Wing Indian Village”, written by Roy W. Meyer. The village discussed was located on the Mississippi River in Goodhue County, Minnesota. The manuscript was prepared at the request of the Goodhue County Historical Society. It discusses the village’s history from French and British exploration until the period of the Dakota Uprising in 1862.

Biographical / Historical
Roy W. Meyer was a professor of English at Mankato State University. He graduated from St. Olaf College, Northfield, Minnesota in 1948 and completed his master’s degree (1949) and Ph.D. degree (1957) at the University of Iowa. He is the author of The Middle Western Farm Novel in the Twentieth Century (1965) and History of the Santee Sioux: United States Indian Policy on Trial (1967).
