Abstract

The Alice DiMeglio collection consists of two audiocassette tapes, CD duplicates of the audiocassettes, and a transcript of an oral history interview conducted between DiMeglio and Lisa Rinehart during the fall of 1988. DiMeglio began her teaching career in 1964. In the interview, DiMeglio discussed her experiences as a kindergarten teacher in Minnesota Lake, Minnesota. She focused on her career, expectations, goals, duties, rewards, frustrations, along with her thoughts concerning administrators, fellow teachers, the community, parents, students, organizations, and attitudes concerning the teaching profession.

Also included in the collection is a 1988 Madison Lake Tribune newspaper clipping covering the Teachers of Excellence event where DiMeglio was honored.

This oral history interview was conducted as a requirement for the graduate level Educational Foundations course entitled History of Education in American Culture at Mankato State University in Mankato, Minnesota.
