Abstract
This collection consists of the typescript of a speech titled “Leaders and Leadership” (undated) made by Carl G. Olson, and a photograph of him (also undated). The speech was given to a gathering of the Future Farmers of America organization. In it, Olson presents both good and bad examples of leadership, and also informs the club members of what is expected of them as community leaders.
Olson was a member of the Minnesota State Legislature from 1955 – 1957, and a lifelong farmer from Watonwan County.

Biographical / Historical
Carl G. Olson was born in rural St. James, Minnesota on May 14, 1904. He married Dorothy Herrlie, also from St. James, and they had four children. He lived and farmed in Watonwan County his entire life. Olson served in the Minnesota State Legislature from 1955 until 1957. Carl Olson died May 22, 1965.
