The Anna Margaret Wiecking collection contains a typed draft of "A History of the Blue Earth County Chapter, American National Red Cross, 1917 - 1967." This manuscript is a draft of Wiecking's printed booklet with the same title. This document includes six pages of historical events 1968 - 1974 that are not included in the published booklet.

Biographical / Historical
Anna Margaret Wiecking, (1887-1973) was a teacher at Mankato State College from 1917-1956. She was bom in Mankato, Mirmesota on 6 December 1887 and eventually received a two-year diploma from Mankato Normal School. Wiecking earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Minnesota, her master's degree in education from Columbia University in New York in 1915, and her doctorate from the University of Iowa in 1933. She was active n the Blue Earth County Historical Society and wrote numerous articles for newspapers on Blue Earth County history in addition to writing two books, titled The History of Blue Earth County and As IfFe Once Were, for elementary school children. She died on the 23 November 1973 in Mankato.
