Abstract
The David M. Allen collection contains an audiocassette tape, CD duplicate of the audiocassette, and transcript of an oral history interview conducted between Allen and Julie Higgs during the fall of 1989. Allen began working as a middle school teacher in Platteville, Wisconsin in 1974. At the time of the interview, he had become a school administrator. In the interview, Allen discussed his spirituality, his ideas concerning what makes a good principal, the school’s and the teachers’ roles in the community, and how schools had developed into social institutions.
This oral history interview was conducted as a requirement for the graduate level Educational Foundations course entitled History of Education in American Culture at Mankato State University in Mankato, Minnesota.
