Abstract

The Darwin R. Anthony collection consists of one CD, a transcript, and a biographical form and interview outline of an oral history interview conducted between Anthony and Evan Rusch in July 2007. In this interview, Anthony talks about his experiences as a student at Mankato State Teachers College, his family, and his career.

This oral history interview was conducted as part of the Tell Your MSU Story Oral History Project conducted by the Southern Minnesota Historical Center at Minnesota State University, Mankato.

Biographical / Historical

Darwin Ross Anthony was born October 30, 1935 in Fairmont, Minnesota. He attended Mankato State Teachers College and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in 1957. As a student, Anthony worked various part-time jobs in Mankato and played intramural softball as part of the Charley Worm Gang. He student taught in Springfield and ended up teaching full time for college credit. A professor of Anthony’s taught him to write essays and he went on to author three children’s books and numerous essays. For a time Anthony taught art, business, and industrial art. Anthony married Beverly Peterson Anthony in August 1958. They have 3 children.
