Abstract

This collection consists of a folder, an audiocassette tape, and a CD duplicate of the audiocassette tape of an oral history interview conducted with Emma Wiecking in 1977. Wiecking graduated from the State Normal School at Mankato, and was a longtime librarian at the Mankato State Teachers College. In the interview, Wiecking discussed her youth in Mankato, her experiences as a student at the Normal School, personalities who have attended or worked on the faculty of Mankato State Teachers College, and her memories of life in Mankato.

Biographical / Historical

Emma Wiecking was bom in Mankato in August 1894. She attended the State Normal School at Mankato, the University of Minnesota, and the Library School of the New York Public Library, and would later receive her master's degree from Columbia University. She worked in the library at Mankato State Teachers College for 37 years, retiring in 1959. Emma Wiecking died in April 1992.
