Biographical / Historical

The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual Center began in 1977 under the leadership of Jim Chalgren, a graduate student at Mankato State University. The organization attempted to provide support, resources, activities, and information to the institution's student body. In the process, the LGBC became one of the first organizations of its kind on university campuses. During the Center's history, the organization has held numerous names ranging from the Alternative Lifestyles Office to the Gay Concerns Office.

The historical information was obtained from the collection.
