Abstract

The Strohfus collection consists of a VHS videocassette, a DVD duplicate of the VHS videocassette, and transcript of an oral history interview conducted between Strohfus and James Kuhlmann in 2004. In this interview, Strohfus talks about her service as a Women Airforce Service Pilot (WASP) during World War II. During the interview she talks about her training in Sweetwater, TX and her work training gunners at the Las Vegas Army Airfield. Also included is a copy of a photograph from her time in service.

This oral history interview was conducted as part of the South Central Minnesota Veterans History Project conducted by the Southern Minnesota Historical Center at Minnesota State University, Mankato.

Biographical / Historical

Elizabeth Strohfus was born on November 15, 1919 in Faribault, MN. She was a one of 1074 women to complete the training to serve in the Women Airforce Service Pilot (WASP) program. She is the recipient of numerous civilian and military awards including being inducted in the National Aviation Hall of Fame. Strohfus lived in Faribault, MN.
