This collection consists of items related to the Mankato Council of Church Women United. Biographical / Historical

The Mankato Council of Church Women United organized in September 1950. The meetings were held at the Mankato Y.W.C.A., and dues were set at five cents per member. The group was led by Mrs. W. D. Willard, who served as president.

The Mankato Council was just one of many in the state of Minnesota which had its roots in the Minnesota Council of Federated Church Women (MCFW), which was founded in 1936. The group changed its name in 1939 to the Minnesota Council of Church Women (MCCW). The Mankato Council, along with many others throughout Minnesota, continues to function as an ecumenical fellowship for women interested in church work.
