Abstract

The Grace Keir collection consists of an audiocassette tape, a CD duplicate of the audiocassette, a biographical form and interview outline of an oral history interview conducted between Keir and Marsha Danielson in January 2007, and photographs of Kier. In this interview, Keir talks about her family, her education, and her experience as a faculty member at Minnesota State University.

This oral history interview was conducted as part of the Tell Your MSU Story Oral History Project conducted by the Southern Minnesota Historical Center at Minnesota State University, Mankato.

Biographical / Historical

Grace Keir was born September 18, 1938 in Postville, Iowa. She attended Postville High School and was a first generation college student. Keir graduated from the Iowa State University with both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree, and received a PhD from the University of Nebraska Lincoln. She married Richard Keir in 1968. Keir worked as a junior high school teacher in Iowa City, taught at University of Northern Iowa, and began teaching in 1982 at the Home Economics Department at Mankato State University. She retired in 2000.
