This collection consists of items pertaining to Mabel Amanda (Pond) Train, an 1892 graduate of the Mankato Normal School. A photograph of Mabel (Pond) Train at the time of her graduation, a program of commencement week activities, and the diploma she received are all part of the collection.

Biographical / Historical

Mabel Amanda Pond was bom in Kasson, Minnesota, in September 1872. She graduated from the Mankato Normal School in 1892, and taught for several years in Luverne, Minnesota. She married George Train in Kasson in April 1898.

The couple moved to Chisholm, Minnesota from Duluth in 1905. Train was active in many civic and social work groups in the Chisholm area. She was a member of the Order of the Eastem Star, the Royal Neighbors, chairperson of the Ladies Aid at the Chisholm Methodist Church, and was active in the Girl Scouts and the area Red Cross.

Mabel Amanda Pond Train died in 1940 in Chisholm, MN.
