Abstract

This collection consists of an audiocassette and transcript of an oral history interview conducted between Barbara Meek-Thue and Kellian Clink in June 2002. Meek-Thue served in the United States Air Force before and during Operation Desert Storm. She discusses her training and experiences as a medical technician during the late 1980s and early 1990s. Meek-Thue was stationed at Wright-Patterson AFB and left the Air Force in 1991 as an E-4.

This oral history interview was conducted as part of the South Central Minnesota Veterans History Project conducted by the Southern Minnesota Historical Center at Minnesota State University, Mankato.

Biographical / Historical

Barbara J. Meek-Thue was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota in 1966. She enlisted in the Air National Guard in 1985 at the age of 19. She served for two years then left to get some schooling. In 1987 she returned to the military when she became part of the active duty Air Force. She was on active duty for four years, serving as a medical technician at Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton, Ohio. In 1991 she left the Air Force at the rank of E-4. Meek-Thue returned to Sioux Falls, SD for schooling. She is currently a nurse practitioner in Albert Lea, Minnesota.
