Abstract

The David J. Popowski collection consists of an audiocassette tape, a CD duplicate of the audiocassette, and a biographical form and interview outline of an oral history interview conducted between Popowski and Marsha Danielson in January 2007. In this interview, Popowski talks about his family, his experience as a student at Mankato State College, and his experience as an English Department faculty member at Minnesota State University.

This oral history interview was conducted as part of the Tell Your MSU Story Oral History Project conducted by the Southern Minnesota Historical Center at Minnesota State University, Mankato.

Biographical / Historical

David John Popowski was bom July 21,1940 in Balaton, Minnesota. He graduated from Balatan High School in 1958 and attended Mankato State College that fall. He ended up taking a year off from college to work at 3M to save enough money to retum to college. Popowski graduated with a double major in English and History in 1963 and also received a master's degree from Mankato State College. He was an English Department faculty member at Minnesota State University. He married Sharon Ruth Brady on June 10, 1967. They have three children, two of whom are Mankato State College graduates.
