Biographical / Historical

Audreene (Olson) Smith was born in Hartland, Minnesota in 1921. Before enlisting in March 1945, Smith was a Registered Nurse. She attended basic training at Camp Carson, Colorado and was then sent to several places around the United States where she worked as a head nurse. Eventually, she was shipped to Germany. Whenever she had time off, she traveled around and saw the country. Smith served 2 years and was discharged in December 1946 as 1st Lieutenant. She returned home and went to work as a Nurse at the Naeve Hospital in Albert Lea, Minnesota. Smith now lives in New Richland, Minnesota and attends a Veteran’s group once a month.
