Abstract
The Ruth C. Perry collection consists of an audiocassette and transcript of an oral history interview conducted between Perry and Daardi Sizemore in 2002. Perry served in the Army Air Corps during World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. She tells detailed stories of her time in the service. She talks about the people she met the jobs she had and her steps through the ranks. Perry retired after 20 of service as Tech Sergeant,

Biographical / Historical
Ruth C. Perry was born in Northwood, Iowa in 1942. In 1944 at the age of 20, Perry enlisted into the Army Air Corps. She worked in the Post Office at Fort George Wright in Spokane, Washington for 3 ½ year until she was discharged. She was only out of the service for a short while until she re-enlisted. She was then sent to the Erding Air Force Base in Germany for 3 years. When she came back to the United States, she became a recruiter in Minneapolis, Minnesota for 7 years. She then spent some time in San Antonio, Texas and was then transferred to Indianapolis, Indiana where she stayed until she retired in 1961. In all Perry served for 20 years. After her retirement, she moved to Burlington, Iowa and got a job with the Social Security Administration. She transferred a couple of times and ended up in Austin, Minnesota and retired from the Social Security Administration after 20 years, in 1986. She is now a volunteer worker. She is a member of the American Legion, Am Vets, TREE, and the Minnesota Women’s Veterans Group.
