Abstract
This collection consists of two campaign posters from Eugene McCarthy’s 1964 campaign for reelection to the United States Senate. McCarthy, a U.S. Senator from Minnesota, won reelection in the 1964 campaign. One of the posters features a picture of McCarthy.

Biographical / Historical
Eugene J. McCarthy was born in 1916, in Watkins, Minnesota. He graduated from St. John’s University in Collegeville, Minnesota in 1935, and from the University of Minnesota in 1939. He taught in public high schools, at St. John’s University, and at the College of St. Thomas in St. Paul. McCarthy served in the U.S. House of Representatives from Minnesota’s Fourth District, 1949 – 1959, and as U.S. Senator from Minnesota, 1959 – 1971. McCarthy was an unsuccessful candidate for the Democratic nomination for president in 1968.
