Abstract

This collection consists of a paper written by Orlin Billehus, which is about a Norwegian pioneer in Kandiyohi County, Minnesota. The paper follows the life of an immigrant named Matias Johannessen Fjellhaugen, who settled in Colfax Township, Kandiyohi County. The Dakota Conflict of 1862, church activities at the Crow River Lutheran Church, and farm life are all discussed in the paper. This paper was written in 1965, as an assignment for Dr. Bert Burns’ Historical Geography class at Mankato State College.
