Abstract

The Judith A. Olson collection consists of an audiocassette and transcript of an oral history interview conducted between Olson and Kellian Clink in 2002. Olson served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. She talks about her basic training, her time in the service and the people she met. She worked as a dental technician and received the rank of E-3.

This oral history interview was conducted as part of the South Central Minnesota Veterans History Project conducted by the Southern Minnesota Historical Center at Minnesota State University, Mankato.

Biographical / Historical

Judith A. Olson was born in Albert Lea, Minnesota in 1947. Following high school she took her fathers advice and joined the United States Navy in 1966. Olson attended basic training in Bainbridge, Maryland and was then sent to San Diego, California to start her schooling to become a dental technician. After her schooling, Olson was assigned to stay at the Navel Training Center in the Oral Surgery Department. After 3 years in the service, Olson got out in February 1969. After the service, she worked as a Dental Assistant for 8 years, had children, one who is in the Air Force. She now lives in Albert Lea, Minnesota and works at a bank.
