Abstract

The Carol Larson collection consists of an audiocassette and transcript of an oral history interview conducted between Larson and Daardi Sizemore in 2002. Larson served in the Air Force form 1979-1981 but did not serve during war time. She talks about her basic training experience and life on the Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha, Nebraska.

This oral history interview was conducted as part of the South Central Minnesota Veterans History Project conducted by the Southern Minnesota Historical Center at Minnesota State University, Mankato.

Biographical / Historical

Carol Larson was born in Topeka, Kansas in 1960. Larson was living in Albert Lea, Minnesota when she enlisted into the Air Force in 1979, a year after graduating high school. After Basic Training, she was sent to Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha, Nebraska. In 1980, she had a daughter and found out they wanted to send her to Germany for 3 years. In 1981, Larson got out of the service a little early with an honorable discharge. She came back to Minnesota and went back to school to become an LPN. Today she lives in Albert Lea, Minnesota, works as a nurse, is a mother of 2 and a grandmother of 2.
