Scope and Contents
The newspaper is divided into four sections, each of which describes a twenty-five year period of the area’s history. The first section (1852 – 1877) focuses on the founding of the city and the problems encountered with the Dakota in the area. The second section (1877 – 1902) focuses on sports, automobiles and other entertainment. The third section (1902 – 1927) deals with World War I, railroads, and local calamities. The final section (1927 – 1952) contains articles on fire fighting, and the many businesses of Mankato.
The DVD holds the 27 June 1952 Centennial Edition volume as well as the 5 April 1937 Mankato Free Press 50th Anniversary volume.

Abstract
This collection consists of two duplicate bound volumes of a special edition Mankato Free Press from 27 June 1952. This edition was compiled to commemorate the centennial of the city. Newspaper articles from throughout the history of Mankato were combined with commentary and illustrations from 1952 to produce this history of the area.
