Schoen, John A., 1927-. Oral History Interview, 4 and 5 March 1987
Abstract
The Dr. John A. Schoen collection consists of an audiocassette and transcript of an oral history interview conducted between Schoen and Kelly Smith during March 1987. Schoen's career as a teacher, coach, and administrator began in 1955 at Ellsworth Public School in Ellsworth, Minnesota. Following his experiences as a teacher, coach, and athletic director at Ellsworth, Schoen began his administrative career. His first job as a school administer was in Echo, Minnesota. He then spent the remainder of his career working as a superintendent in the Minnesota towns of Le Center, Slayton, Aurora, and Winthrop. In the interview, Schoen discussed his work at consolidating and pairing schools in these various prairie communities during the course of his career.
This oral history interview was conducted as a requirement for an Educational Foundations course entitled Current Issues in Public Education at Mankato State University in Mankato, Minnesota.
