Byrne, Thomas P., 1922-. Oral History Interview, 30 October and 4 November 1987
Abstract
The Thomas Byrne collection consists of an audiocassette and transcript of an oral history interview conducted between Byrne and Ginny Timmers during the fall of 1987. During his career, Byrne worked in three different high schools as a Spanish and Latin language teacher between 1948 and 1984. The majority of his teaching experience was in Owatonna, Minnesota where he worked from 1952 through 1984. In the interview, Byrne discussed the areas of change and continuity during his career. He noted that the most consequential changes occurred in relation to shifting social and economic forces.
This oral history interview was conducted as a requirement for the graduate level Educational Foundations course entitled History of Education in American Culture at Mankato State University in Mankato, Minnesota.
