Smiland, Christy, 1984-. Oral History Interview, 2007
Abstract
The Christy Smiland collection consists of a biographical form and an audio CD and transcript of an oral history interview conducted between Smiland and Zach Hacker in October 2007. Smiland attended Minnesota State University, Mankato from 2003-2008. In this interview, Smiland talks about where she attended high school and her college experiences with registering for the first time, dorms and off-campus housing, her majors, her favorite professors.
This oral history interview was conducted as part of the Tell Your MSU Story Oral History Project conducted by the Southern Minnesota Historical Center at Minnesota State University, Mankato.

Biographical / Historical
Christy Smiland was born Dec. 27, 1984 in St. Paul, Minnesota. Smiland attended high school in Maple Grove until tenth grade and then moved to California. She moved back to Minnesota and for her senior year and graduated from Roseville Area High School in Roseville, Minnesota in 2003. After graduating, Smiland attended Minnesota State University, Mankato and majored in speech communication and minored in human resource management. Smiland made the Dean’s list each semester, received the Wolff Family Scholarship, was a member of the honor society, and was involved in a local church while at Minnesota State Mankato. She received a Bachelor of Science degree from the Department of Speech Communication in May 2008.
