Scope and Contents

The collection consists of materials related to Glenn Schultz’s Alternate Plan Paper, “Favorite Learning Recipes: Filed or Fulfilled? A Study of the Wilson Campus School concept of “open” school at Mankato, Minnesota.” As part of the APP, Schultz created a slideshow presentation with background music on a reel-to-reel player. Darrel Schultz recreated the presentation on DVD and placed additional digitized miscellaneous materials on CDs. The miscellaneous content includes digitized versions of the slides and sound tracks from the Wilson Campus School. In addition, there are two typed reviews of Darrell Schultz’s project methodology and personal notes on Glenn’s presentation.

Biographical or Historical Information

Glenn Schultz was born April 16, 1930 and died June 15, 1997.  He enrolled at Mankato State College in 1971 through a scholarship from the Knapp Foundation School Library Media Program.  He had previously served as a minister at various Midwest Congregations and as a Librarian/Multimedia Specialist in Burns Flat, Oklahoma.  He received his Master of Science: Media degree in 1972 and went on to work as a Multimedia Specialist at Southeastern Community College in West Burlington, Iowa.  Glenn’s son, Darrell, recreated the presentation in a digital format in 2015.  In addition to the presentation, he created CDs with miscellaneous content related to the creation of the APP and a written review his project methodology and notes on Glenn’s presentation.

Abstract

This collection consists of materials related to Glenn Schultz’s Alternate Plan Paper, “Favorite Learning Recipes: Filed or Fulfilled? A Study of the Wilson Campus School concept of “open” school at Mankato, Minnesota.”  As part of the APP, Schultz created a slideshow presentation with background music on a reel-to-reel player. This APP was in partial fulfillment of the degree requirements for a Master of Science: Media degree from Mankato State College, which Schultz obtained in 1972. In 2015, Darrell Schultz, Glenn’s son, recreated Glenn’s APP presentation in a digital format
