Abstract

This collection consists of items pertaining to Ernest J. Anderson, of Frost, Minnesota. Anderson was a lifelong farmer, and served on many committees and boards in his home community. He was also a member of the Minnesota State Senate from 1954 until 1973. The collection consists of Anderson's legislative correspondence, campaign literature, election results, one photograph and one newspaper clipping. Also included in the collection is an audiocassette tape, a CD duplicate of the audiocassette, and the transcript of an oral history interview conducted with Anderson in 1977. In the interview, Anderson discusses his years in the Minnesota Senate, and the issues with which he was involved.

Biographical / Historical

Ernest J. Anderson was bom in 1902, and was raised on his family's farm near Frost, Minnesota. He married Olive Olsen, and they had three children.

Anderson served on the Frost School Board for twenty years, the cooperative elevator board, the Faribault cooperative oil company board, the board of the Minnesota Farmers Elevator Association, and on the Lutheran church council in Frost.

Anderson was elected to the Minnesota Senate in 1954, and served continuously until 1973. He served as president pro tempore of the Senate in the 1967 session.

Emest J. Anderson died in January of 1992.
