Abstract

The Louis A. Schwartzkopf collection consists of an oral history interview conducted between Schwartzkopf and Daardi Sizemore in June 2017. In this interview, Schwartzkopf talks about his career at Minnesota State University Mankato as a Physics faculty member from 1982 through 2010, technology at the university, and historical events. Also included in this collection is a biographical form and photograph of Schwartzkopf.

This oral history interview was conducted as part of the Tell Your MSU Story Oral History Project conducted by the Southern Minnesota Historical Center at Minnesota State University, Mankato.

Biographical / Historical

Louis A. Schwartzkopf was born April 19, 1946 in Lincoln, Nebraska. He graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1967 with a bachelor’s degree in physics and the University of California, Berkley in 1974 with a doctoral degree in physics. He taught at Eastern Oregon State College before becoming a faculty member at Mankato State University in 1982. Schwartzkopf is married to Rebecca (Becky) Schwartzkopf and they have one daughter, Dorothy. He retired from Minnesota State University Mankato in 2010
