Scope and Contents

Institutional Research is a collection of the reports and data compiled by Institutional Research to better understand the campus and student body. The data includes enrollment reports, degrees conferred, different surveys of departments on campus between 1921 and present, program reviews, and accreditations reports. This collection also contains information gathered from outside of the university to help show the composition of the student body. The series are as follows:

Enrollment Data and Degrees Conferred: This series encompasses all the printouts that show the enrollment figures from 1975 through 1992. This series also shows the degrees earned between 1946 and 1995. Included with the degrees earned are the minors that people took between 1983 and 1994. There is also information on class sizes by different sections of campus. Note that the HEGIS is the predecessor of IPEDS.

Institutional Research Data: This series is a compilation of the information that Institutional Research gathered in order to put out information about campus. Some of the information collected was also used for the statistics of the college. Included here are surveys Institutional Research conducted in the 1970s and 1980s, as well as plans to consolidate the campuses into one campus. There is also a section on the strategic planning commission that took place at Mankato State University between 1989 and 1990. This Commission looked at different areas of the campus and made recommendations on how these areas could be improved. There is some duplication within this series. Because the reports were generated from

Institutional Research, there were two copies of some reports kept for archival purposes. The Institutional Research collection includes program reviews and accreditation reports from many different departments around the campus. There are number of program reviews and accreditation reports in the Academic Affair collection, they will be recorded under this collection effectively from 2018 for future references. https://mankato.mnsu.edu/about-the-university/student-success-analytics-and-integrated-planning/

Outside Research: This series is the extra information that Institutional Research used to help determine the statistics of the student body. This includes reports on American College Testing (ACT) scores and reports from Minnesota Higher Education Coordinating Board.
