Scope and Contents

Most of the videos were produced by the Minnesota State University, Mankato ITS department. Other videos were recorded under special circumstances and then collected with the others. In addition, some tapes were produced by a private production company, most especially in the case of certain commencement videos. Some tapes are edited and some are just raw footage. Others consist of one steady shot of a particular lecture or other university-related event and due to the structure and self-explanatory nature of the events they show, those videos never needed any editing. Unless noted, these series are arranged alphabetically.

Biographical / Historical

Nearly all of the videos in this collection were filmed by Joe Nechinicky of the Video Production branch of the Minnesota State University ITS Department. The primary mission of the Video Production area is to provide video support for academic related and/or administrative projects. Before 2000, the Video Services Unit was part of Library Services.

Abstract

The Video Services collection documents Minnesota State University, Mankato events including commencement ceremonies, lectureships, other university ceremonies and celebrations, as well as other miscellaneous activities. The Videos are in VHS and DVD formats.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

Bulk of collection donated by Joe Nechinicky on behalf of Video Services Unit in January 2003. Additional materials added as they are received.
